Naturally wine and winemaking is an important part of this dive into the soul of our island, so you will not miss Mamoiada, a charming mountain village where sardinian red wine Cannonau has been produced for centuries and where the iconic mask of Mamuthones was born.
And finally Orgosolo, the captivating town decorated with over one hundred colourful murals inspired by historical events, politics, everyday life and local culture; here you’ll have the opportunity to admire the work of a weaver working with smooth silk produced in the area.

Day by day program outline
In the morning arrival at your accommodation. After a good lunch in a local trattoria, in the afternoon a walk downtown Nuoro with friendly Gaveena's local fellows will take you discovering charming workshops where traditional carpets, iron objects, jewelry and baskets are crafted using ancient techniques (duration 4 hours). Overnight.
Excursion to the mountain village of Mamoiada where you'll meet a local craftman creating amazing carnival masks carved in wood and a genuine Mamuthone, surely the most iconic traditional costume. The warm and friendly atmosphere of a local winery will be the perfect setting for your delicious lunch with wine tasting (duration 6 hours). Overnight.
Highlight of the day is Orgosolo, a charming village decorated with over 100 colorful mural paintings, inspired by local traditions, italian politics as well as worldwide historical happenings. A local weaver will welcome you in her workshop to show you how silk is carefully collected and skilfully transformed into fascinating decorations of traditional costumes; during the day, Gaveena's friends will calm down your hunger and proudly serve you some of the best food specialties of Sardinia (duration 6 hours). Overnight.
