Day by day program outline
Arrival at your accommodation during the morning.
After meeting up with friendly Gaveena's local fellows, a walk in the historic area of Marina by the seafront and Castello, at the highest point of the city, will provide you with an overview of our enchanting Capital city.
The main target of our walk along hilly cobbled streets is to cosy up with craftmen and step into their workshops to admire original hand made products such as exclusive ceramics, traditional carpets, silver and gold jewellery. Naturally sardinian craft abilities are effectively expressed into food production as well, so a part of your walk will surely get you drooling when peeking into inspiring shops filled with delicacies of our land (total duration 3 hours). Evening at leisure and overnight.
Twenty km is the distance separating Cagliari from the bucolic countryside where Cantine Argiolas grows indigenous grapes and transforms them into fine wines appreciated all over the world; Turriga, Perdera, Costamolino and Korem, just to name a few, are excellent products of this wine makers family who started its activity in the firs years of 1900.
Friendly hosts will tell you the history of this important player of Sardinia's wine team and will be glad to take you for a walk along the path made by Cannonau, Monica, Bovale, Carignano, Vermentino and other selected grapes from the vine to the bottle. After your journey between barrels and cellars, you'll be invited to the symphony of flavours played by selected wines matched with bite-sized sardinian delicacies (duration 3 hours).
Whatever foodie tribe you're part of, today your hunger of authentic flavours will be definitely fed. Villanova is the seductive area where lots of traditional food shops are daily pleasing the demanding inhabitants of Cagliari, always chasing for the best products to be used in their kitchen.
But the coolest place in this part of the city is surely San Benedetto, probably the largest indoor market in Europe: get ready for intense colors, seductive smells and lots of chatty fellows who will pull you into the food heaven! While wandering between the stalls, you'll be offered several bites together with sincere smiles, so get as many as you can, close your eyes and get pampered by tastes. Today's food safari will finally take you in a local trattoria where to enjoy a lovely lunch in a relaxing atmosphere (duration 4 hours). Evening at leisure and overnight.
